Recent purchases

It's only January but is it crazy that I'm already thinking about spring break? I don't think I'm alone on this one. Even retail stores have started bringing in their new styles for spring 2011. My recent purchases have been bought with spring 2011 subconsciously on my mind. My friends and I are planning to take a cruise to the Bahamas in March for spring break so it felt odd buying a swimsuit in January but I just had to have it. I went to Target to buy a planner for the new year and left with a swimsuit.
Bandeaus are not my preferred style of top but I couldn't pass up the coral combined with sparkly gold and white.

Yesterday I was at forever 21 and just when I thought I'd leave empty handed, I walked by the sales rack, (which I usually don't bother doing because I don't have the patience after going through the whole store as it is) and I found these nautical inspired shorts. I love the way they tie up and the rope gives them a rugged look. I want to find wedges to wear with these shorts to give them that spring touch. Best part? They were on sale. Who doesn't love a good sale item?
Can you tell I'm super excited for spring?

baby it's (finally) cold outside

Apparently it's been snowing throughout all the states but one. So, at last, we have received some "authentic" winter weather here in Texas. It's not snowing where I live but it has been raining and the temperature has been frigid. I'm not going to lie, I haven't really stepped out of my UGGS all week but than again I didn't do much except go to work or stay home and watch movies. I do have a shopping date tomorrow though with my friend Nikki who, thankfully, is now better and out of the hospital, so in honor of her, this post will be based on scarves, one of her essential style items. Scarves not only keep you warm during frosty times like this, but they are also an accessory that adds flair to any outfit.

Scarves don't necessarily have to be a "heavy" look, light scarves might not keep you as warm as a knitted one but they sure do look pretty.

This picture proves that heavy scarves can look just as appealing as lightweight scarves.

I have never been a huge fan of scarves and don't have a very big collection but I might just add one to my outfit tomorrow for my shopping date. Hopefully Nikki won't mind that I'm borrowing her signature look.
