Succesful Weekend.

Don't you hate it when you go shopping and come back feeling unsatisfied? For me, this was not one of those weekends. On Saturday, I went to a flea market and was more than happy with what I found. Usually I'll find maybe one thing I'm really excited about when I come back home but this time I came back with a few things I am anxious to wear.
I bought these gorgeous rings. I had a really pretty cross ring but I broke it so I leaped for joy when I found this sparkly one. The other ring has flower petals and sparkly gems all thrown together. The colors on it immediately caught my eye.

These vintage brooches, I bought off of a lady who had a huge assortment of old vintage jewelry. The kind you have to really dig thru and keep an open mind for potential. The pinks on these brooches are perfect for fall.

As I was digging through all this lady's stuff, I saw she had a little tray filled with collectibles and fancier vintage items. I noticed this brooch right away and quickly picked it up. I cannot wait to attach this to a set of pearls or a cardigan.

I was in much need of my MAC bronzing powder, so I decided to take a trip to the mall to pick it up. I thought, that after all my great finds this weekend that I wouldn't be so easily drawn into all the temptations. Well, it just so happened that the mall I went to was having Forever 21's brand new location opening. This new location is two stories and the size of a department store. Surprisingly, I did not shop. It was so packed and crazy that I became overwhelmed. When I shop, I like to take my time and not be pushed out of the way. So I just a bought a shirt that caught my eye the second I walked in. It's so simple that I could probably make it, but I love it.
It's a navy blue shirt & has rips in all the right places. Simple. (sorry about the picture quality, I was in a hurry)
I did make it to MAC & bought my "refined golden" bronzing powder. I usually use "golden" but this one has a shine to it when you apply it.
I ran out of this stuff. (Victoria's Secret, Bare Bronze, Bronzing powder stick) It's awesome for a quick glow on your legs, shoulders, chest or where ever you need that extra glow. They always run out and I always have to wait till Victoria's Secret orders more, luckily I saw it and snatched it up.

Overall, I feel like I had a successful weekend. I definitely feel satisfied. Hope ya'll had a successful weekend as well.

What inspires my outfits.

Since I've been MIA due to it being the last week of summer and all, I've decided to post twice today :) Everyone gets inspired to dress in different ways. I have some friends who look at color palettes to get inspired or random pictures of just "things" & that's what stirs up a concoction of an outfit. I, on the other hand, am inspired by all of the above but especially celebrity candids. Not pictures of them on the red carpet but pictures of celebs or people out and about, living their everyday lives. However, I don't just "copy" their style. I try to make it my own and just take bits and pieces here and there. That is why its called inspiration not plagiarism. ;) Pictures always give me the guts to try something new. I hope all the pictures I've posted will give you some ideas or courage to wear a certain outfit because I know I sure get that fashion "high" from looking at great outfits.
I love this. I adore the gray & mustard together. Not too mention pearls. This is something I could wear any day, no matter where I need to go. You can make it your own by adding your own accessories if your not a big fan of pearls or wearing it with flats or changing out the mustard color for another bright but subtle color. There are a million ways you could make this yours.

I personally love Lindsay Lohan's everyday style. She makes wearing all black seem less Gothic. I always tell my sister she wears too much black but I've learned to never underestimate this color. LBD. Black tights. Black boots. black nail polish. etc.

I hope you enjoy looking at these pictures as much as I do. Be inspired. I have a whole binder full of clip outs from magazines of what I like. Whenever I'm stuck on trying to figure out something to wear, I just flip through that book and I usually come up with something to put together.

Metallic Mini

One trend I'll be following this fall is the metallic look. It's definitely a tricky look to pull off right. With my 21st birthday coming up in two weeks (woo hoo), I'm already trying to think of the perfect birthday outfit. I've seen this metallic mini in different ways and I love it.
It's already a bold statement piece so I definitely want to dress it down just a tad, depending where I end up going. You can also use it more than once knowing you can dress it down with a tee shirt and blazer.

I love how Nicole Richie wore hers. Classic white button down tucked in. I'm not sure whether to claim this as a "going out" look or almost pulling it off at an office job if it has a more laid back environment.

& Jessica Biel on the July 2010 Glamour Cover wearing her Versace metallic mini.
I love how all three ladies had their own way of wearing their metallic mini. How do you wear yours?
This is definitely on my wish list. :)

new seasons of fashion

I have been so busy running around trying to get my HUGE "to do list" done before school starts (exactly a week from tomorrow) that it has stopped me from posting as much as I would like to. One thing I have not gotten around to scratching off that "to do list" is back to school shopping but at least that's something I'll enjoy doing :) Not so much the notebooks, pens and expensive books but more so the clothes, shoes and of course a big purse to carry around all my school supplies. Although, I am sad summer went by so fast and is practically over, along with the new show I got hooked on "pretty little liars",
We have other things to look forward too including the new seasons to two of my favorite shows, Gossip Girl and 90210. (Their wardrobes on these shows are just a plus to watch) I've seen pictures for the upcoming season of gossip girl and I am so excited to see Serena and Blair's "closet" for this season.
Here's a little inspiration on how to mix your patterns and bright colors for whats left of summer.

(Using their summer pieces and wearing a peacoat over a dress of lace and ruffles or combining a flowery dress with a winter accessory; beret.)
I can't decide whose closet I'd rather raid. Serena's or Blair's.

MAC trip

So I missed out on posting yesterday but here I am with a makeup post. I will include a fashion post later. No worries. One of my best friends is doing a pageant. Pageants have made up so many rules including not being able to show any tattoos (understandable) as well as not allowing you to have your own makeup artist backstage with you nor hairstylist! I would be a nervous wreck. So I took her to meet my lifesaver. I met him my senior year in high school when I needed my makeup done for prom and haven't gone to anyone since. To begin, she need her tattoo covered up.
going.

getting there.

& done!

I can't find a before picture but the tattoo was pretty big before and the coloring was a dark green. She was very relieved when she saw this :)
Now time for the makeup part. Like I said earlier, she will not be allowed to have anyone backstage with her for hair or makeup or any help for that matter, so she needed a step by step run through so she could learn to do it on her own.

Getting all his tools together.

He started with her eyebrows than went straight to the eyes.

She's looking happy with the results. I think she looks like a barbie :)

& her eyes upclose.
She wants to keep a mental note, so she doesn't forget the night of the pageant. Gabriel is amazing. He will give you exactly what your looking for & even if you don't know exactly what you want, he will find something to suit you. I'll be heading back soon for my bronzer and blush since I'm about running out.

Summer coming to an end.

I keep seeing back to school commercials and catalogues in the mail. I just now realized that we only have a couple weeks before summer is over but that doesn't mean our wardrobes should go from brights to darks in a week. Mix your floral patterns with dark patterns for back-to-school. Wear your shades with anything! Mix your gingham pattern with stripes. Wear your cutoffs with a long sleeve "off the shoulder" blouse. I love Fall and can't wait to start dressing for it but I am not ready to give up my floppy hats, ray bans, rompers, cut offs, wedges and white dresses and not to mention beach waves, just yet. So I'm going to try to stay in that summer mood for as long as possible :)

I would do just about anything for Olivia Palermo's hat.

Don't put away your cutoffs or floral patterns away just yet. I'm already planning ideas on how to wear them throughout the first few weeks of school. Happy summer! :)

Fashion where I live.

I live in Texas and although I am a country girl at heart and wear my boots every chance I get, I am also a "city" girl up front. Like most girls, I love having a reason to dress up. This isn't California or New York, so you don't normally see a lot of everyday "dressed up" outfits just to go to the mall or run errands. If you walked down the street where I live in 4 inch wedges, mini dress with a cardigan and over the top accessories, most would ask you what the special occasion was or where your going so dressed up.

I've read numerous fashion blogs where they think Texas is all about plaid shirts, daisy dukes and cowboy boots. Yes I own all of the above. Who says those pieces cant be fashion? For the past year, the top fashion magazines on the stands have covered the "country meets chic" fashion spread. Believe me, country wear has a lot to work with.

This is not a fashion blog for only Texas readers, it's a blog for any young lady who needs a little inspiration to create fashion with what she has and to match her personality or who has trouble putting pieces together like any one of us. This blog is for ideas on how to mix old finds and thrift finds with new pieces and "splurges". So ladies, get ready to be inspired :)

Here's a few pictures that I love from some magazines that covered a chic country look for their fashion spreads.

I love those thigh high boots and thermal undershirt. (not to mention gorgeous Kellan Lutz)

Simple tee shirts are one of my key items. If only I could find a vest like that!

Hope yall stick around and keep reading :) I also hope I inspire at least one person! Have a great sunday.
